Shockwave or P-Shot: How We Build Your Clinical Plan
The Custom Protocol
I often have patients ask me, "Doctor, which one is better: Shockwave or P-Shot?" The answer is never simple because no two patients arrive at my clinic with the exact same needs. My job is to diagnose the underlying cause of your concerns and build a protocol that makes medical sense.
To understand the difference, think of your vascular and tissue health as a garden. You need both an irrigation system and fertile soil to see growth. If you only have one, you will struggle.
The Biological Difference
Shockwave Therapy: The Vascular "Irrigation"
Shockwave therapy (often referred to as acoustic wave therapy) is entirely focused on vascular health. It uses sound waves to stimulate the body to grow new, healthy micro-vessels. If the primary issue we find in your diagnosis is related to blood flow, this is where we start. It is a non-invasive way to improve the "plumbing" of the tissue.
P-Shot: The Regenerative "Fertilizer"
The P-Shot is a regenerative approach. It uses your body’s own growth factors—derived from your blood—to signal tissue rejuvenation. It isn't about blood flow alone; it is about the structural quality and health of the tissue itself. It helps the area heal and perform at a higher biological capacity.
Why Combining Both Works
In many of my clinical cases, I recommend a synergistic approach. By using Shockwave therapy first to optimize blood flow, we improve the environment. Then, we use the P-Shot to deliver the growth factors. It allows the tissue to absorb and utilize those factors much more effectively than if we had used one treatment in isolation.
This is evidence-based medicine. It is about logical sequencing to get the best result for your health.
